General Idea: Post first line from 10 of your favorite novels. Make people guess what they are.

01) Everything starts somewhere, although many physicists disagree. But people have always been dimly aware of the problem with the start of things.

02) One way to look at what happened is that everything is the fault of my optometrist and his enthusiasm for those miserable eye-drops that make your eyes super sensitive to light. But if I've learned one thing from all this, it's that there's generally more than one way to look at anything.

<s>03) [name] had done three years in prison. He was big enough and looked don't-fuck-with-me enough that his biggest problem was killing time.</s> American Gods by Neil Gaiman (yubsie)

<s>04) Now consider the tortoise and the eagle.</s> Small Gods by Terry Pratchett (ameryanne)

05) In the land of [place], where such things as seven-league boots and cloaks of invisibility really exist, it is quite a misfortune to be born the eldest of three.

06) Summer in France was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for a fifteen-year-old girl, a social and cultural experience she'd never forget. At least that's what everyone told [name].

<s>07) In my time I have been called many things: sister, lover, priestess, wise-woman, queen. Now in truth I have come to be wise-woman, and a time may come when these things may need to be known.</s> The Mists of Avalon by Marion Zimmer Bradley (yubsie)

08) "And I say you will!" bellowed the burly sheepfarmer, [name]. He lunged across the table but his daughter [name] sidestepped his powerful arm and darted down the passage to the sleeping rooms.

09) As the bus entered the prefectural capital of [place], garden suburbs transformed into city streets of multicolored neon, headlights of oncoming cars and checkered lights of office buildings.

10) Twenty-three stories up and all I could see out the windows was grey smog. They could call it the City of Angels if they wanted to, but if there were angels out there, they had to be flying blind.

I tried to keep a variety of my favorite books because I've got a hell of a lot more than just ten. I might have vetoed some in favor of others since neekabe used them in hers! =P

ALSO - Trans Siberian Orchestra has a new album out called Night Castle. It's fucking amazing and wonderful and it's not a 'Christmas' album so it can be listened all year round like Beethoven's Last Night. It's brilliant and I love it so much. When I say boring, I mean that the things I have been doing (I.E. - visiting the Hopewell Rocks, going swimming, scoping out the sexy people in swimsuits, roasting marshmallows, etc.) could be much more fun if my friends were involved. That is totally an invitation for all of you (who still read my journal) to come and visit me. =D

I thought Sackville was small. I was seriously wrong. Hopewell Cape/Hillsborough is infinitesimal. It's lucky to even have an Irving gas station (said gas station also doubles as a grocery and liqueur store). Once my internet stops it's foolish douchbaggery I'll post some pictures, and show you what I mean.

In other (fantastic) news, I will be in Halifax the 17th (Monday), 18th (Tuesday) and 19th (Wednesday) of this month (August)! Mostly for job hunting, since my current job is only for the summer, and there will be a few touristy things getting done too. For those of you in the Halifax area, if you're free and up for visity-fun-things I would love some company! Even if I have to go and bug some of you for a few minutes while you're at work. ^__~ So comment and let me know your schedules! ♥

    <lj:music>Nickelback - Burn It To The Ground</lj:music>

After much miss-communication, random phone calls and impromptu interviews - I will now be working and living at The Chocolate River Motel starting tomorrow. It's a motel/cabin/campground/restaurant type place and should be great fun as well as challenging; since I'll be multitasking as a housekeeper and waitress again. It's a bit short notice and my boss is sending someone to pick me up early tomorrow morning, which is awfully nice of him.

I have no idea if I'll have internet out there. Probably not? So when I disappear, don't panic. This job is just for the summer (and possibly the fall?) it all depends on how long my employer needs me for. But I'm not complaining since I'll be living right by a beach, close to the Hopewell Rocks and apparently there's hiking trails all over. Did I mention that I'll right by a beach? Fantastic! ♥

In other news - Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen was fucking amazing and I highly recommend that everyone who hasn't seen it should go see it as soon as they can. It was wonderful and awesome and I really want to go see it again before I leave, but I can't so I'll just have to live with it. But seriously. GO SEE IT. It's absolutely worth it.

Now I have to get back to rapidly packing up all my stuff and praying that I don't forget anything important. Have I mentioned that I'm going to miss the fuck out of all my Moncton friends? No? Well I'm going to fucking miss them! D= Gah.

Have I mentioned that I'll be living right by a beach? ♥

    <lj:music>Kate Voegele - Hallelujah</lj:music>

I am now living in my best friends apartment while she's away at Fundy for work (hooray for being away from mom! xD). I moved in yesterday, although I wouldn't really call it moving in. More like dragging my suitcase up the five flights of stairs (along with a couple of other non-important things) and taking over her room somewhat. But that's not important.

What's important is that her roommate is the hottest piece of chocolate man I have ever seen in my life. Seriously.

First encounter with Boy: After dragging my bazillion pound suitcase up the stairs and fumbling into the apartment. The front door opens into the living room, and I find him bent over the back of the couch with his butt in the air. Best sight ever, he has the most amazing ass. It would've been better if my dad hadn't been with me.

(Note about Boy - he's only been speaking English for five months and is horrible at it. He speaks better French, which I'm horrible at. He speaks to me in English because he wants to practice and I speak French to him so I can refresh my lost ability. Despite the broken speech and wild hand gestures, we're able to communicate pretty well and we do so, frequently.)

Latest encounter with Boy: I did the dishes this morning because I dirtied a few of them last night and I figured I'd do all of them to save time, including Boy's dishes. He was quite surprised that I'd done that and thanked me profusely (so cute). Then earlier this evening, just as I was contemplating supper, he knocks on my door and I turn around to find him leaning against my door frame, shirtless, with an amazing looking plate-full of food in his hands. It was like the start of a wet dream only he was wearing pants. (I should probably mention now that he could grate cheese on his abs. Guuuh.)

Sadly, Boy will only be here until Sunday because he's leaving to go back to his home for the summer. Burkina-Faso is where he's from and he won't be back until early September. Which is sad. But until he leaves, I'm sure I'll have more good Boy moments to share. And if I'm lucky, I'll catch him coming out of the shower. x3

Maybe not too soon since I have so much left to do here, but eventually. I guess I'd put it on the top five list of places I want to live someday (the other four being Japan, Scotland, Ireland, and Italy).

I've also been thinking of going back to school. I've been looking at some of the courses NBCC offers and some of them are pretty tempting, but I'll have to think on that a lot longer. It's just something that I feel driven to do.

Now I'm off to go eat something and then hit the pavement for a run. *wave*

String instruments are my new love. Cello, violin, and guitar. Dammit. When played correctly they're orgasm inducing. And recently I've found a lot of music where they're played beautifully. The piano has been shoved into the backseat of the car that holds my love of instruments. Bugger. And I thought I was over this 'classical' love business. Damn. ♥

Things that need to be done before tomorrow:
<s>1) Pack suitcase.</s>
<s>2) Get bridesmaid dress from the seamstress.</s>
<s>3) Make food to bring on the plane.</s>
<s>4) Change the litter in the cat's shitbox.</s>
<s>5) Charge NintendoDS and MP3 player.</s>
<s>6) Put lots of new music and old favorites on MP3 player.</s>
<s>7) Pack books.
Happy Earth Day!

I hope everyone is doing his or her part to be environmentally friendly today. I spent the better part of the day helping some elementary school kids collect all the garbage and clean up a nearby park.

There's so many every day little things that we can do each day to make the environment a little better.
-- Use reusable lunch containers instead of plastic and paper bags.
-- Use reusable recycled 'green' bags from grocery stores instead of having them bag your groceries in those plastic bags.
-- Rather than bottled water, filter your tap water through a Brita (or equivalent) and bring it with you in a glass or aluminum bottle.
-- RECYCLE any plastic bottles you might have.
There's a tonne more. Confining all the good we could be doing for our planet to one day a year (two if you count Earth Hour) isn't going to be helpful in the long run. Little things, everyday are what's going to help change the earth. ♥
