I'm being patient; I'm being good.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE! ♥
And a very Merry Christmas to you all!

I'm going to crank up the holiday music, finish wrapping presents and then drink some hot cocoa! I hope you all have a safe and wonderful Christmas! *love and hugs*

A pawn or a king?

This will be my second year participating in NaNoWriMo and for those of you who have no idea what that is - it's National Novel Writing Month. 50,000 words in 30 days. It's pretty epic and slightly fucking insane sometimes (especially when you still have to go to work after only getting a two hour nap), but amazing just the same. A few of my coworkers are still trying to get over some of my worst moments from last November.

In order to motivate myself (and to have a spot to keep the shit I've written in case Puck and/or Spock crash) I've created a new and shiny writing journal - feathersandink. =D

If any of you are interested in watching me flail about the internets like a lunatic and, maybe, want to read the badly written and unedited content that will be put in there, please friend me at that journal and I will let you in! ♥

The summary of my NaNo novel is in the profile if any of you are curious.

*hugs and love*

Lights will guide you home.

D = Younger male coworker who happens to like anime
Me = Crazy geek

Conversation that happened yesterday:

D = It was the most EPIC thing I've ever seen. (talking about something-or-other from One Piece)
Me = Psssshaw! It's SO not as epic as two Gundams blowing things up!
D = ...what's a gundam?
Me = *speechless and realizing, once again, that I am old*

So I lent him my Gundam Wing season one box set.

Conversation that happened today:

Me = *taking a sip of my tea in the lunch room*
D = *rushes in* This series is fucking AWESOME!
Me = *smirking in joy at corrupting another young soul to the dark side and taking another sip of tea*
D = *babble babble-I wasn't paying attention-something something* Are Quatre and Trowa gay?
Me = *chokes on tea* *gasps for air* WHAT?!
D = Are they gay? Because that would be cool, they'd be like the Spartans only in giant fighting suits!
Me = *speechless... again* ...You... you were my little brother in a past life weren't you?
D = ...huh?

This lead to an awesomely long conversation about the Gundam Wing fandom and how awesome it is. Talking about all that fun stuff made me feel squishy and happy. Also D is straight and, despite being younger than me (by five years), has a wife and 10 month old daughter. This was the best conversation I have had in an extremely long time. It was fantastic! ♥

In for a penny...

I talk to electronic devices in the hope that they will do what I want them to. I've always done this; it makes me feel like I'm actually accomplishing something even though I'm just pushing a bunch of buttons that may, or may not, solve the problem.

We have a copy centre at work. The printers are named Baby, Johnny, and Dr. Gonzo.

Me = overworked and supposed to be in three places at once.
Baby = stubborn

Me - *gentle cooing sound* Come on, who's my favourite Baby girl? You can do it. Come on...
Baby - *does what I want her to*
Me - *victory dance and looks up to find six customers and three co workers laughing hysterically at me while attempting to look like they aren't*
Customer - So that's why my flyers always turn out amazing. You've got a printer whisperer in the building.

Being the source of other peoples amusement made my day. It's been a while since I made someone laugh outright. I thought I'd share this with the rest of you in case it makes you laugh or smile too! =D

Nuuuurrrgh.

Wow.

I'm twenty-four now.

HOW THE HELL DID THAT HAPPEN? O.o
(I swear to god it was June, like, maybe three days ago? Time needs to stop flying this fast!)
Due to the the influence of my awesome best friend - I now own my first ukulele.

I am so fucked.

This thing is addicting, and I can't put it down, and I swear to God an hour and a half just went by and I didn't even notice. Fuck my life! Gaaah. I've been sucked into a musical vortex and I so DON'T want out.

Shit.

This most likely means that I won't update for another two months! Heh! =D

My sister Andrea is getting married on September 11th and I'm going to be playing at the reception. What the fuck have I gotten myself into?

I really need to work on my 'diving headfirst into things' skills, 'cause this is brilliantly fucking ridiculous! Go me! x3 This is either going to be awesome, or horribly embarrassing. knowing my luck, it might end up being a mix of both. Damn. =P

Day 05 - My favourite quote

This one was almost too easy, when compared to yesterdays.

"To be or not to be - that is the question; whether 'tis nobler in the mind to suffer the slings and arrows of outrageous fortune, or to take arms against a sea of troubles and by opposing end them." - William Shakespeare (Hamlet Act 3, Scene 1)

Some of you may have saw this one coming, but then again, this is me we're talking about, so some of you may not. This has got to be one of the most well known and slightly over used Shakespeare quotes out there. So why did I pick this one? I love Shakespeare to bits and am slightly obsessed with his works, surely I could have picked another quote more obscure than this one. And I could have but I didn't want to.

Most people don't get past the 'to be or not to be' part. They don't focus on the next few lines and that's what annoys me a bit. This fragment of a bigger soliloquy is all about not letting the bad things that happen in your life drag you down. Are we going to let those 'slings and arrows' knock us on our asses or are we going to get up, take charge, and fight back against them. It's about choices and crossroads and whether or not you're going to cowardly slink away from all the horrible events in your life. Granted, Hamlet's situation was a lot different than anything that might be thrown at us nowadays, but the quote is still motivational.

...just don't go out and kill your uncles. Murder is a crime if you get caught. =P

Day 04 - Your favourite book

I can't pick just one. It's impossible. I've been reading since I was five and have way too many favourite books. Seriously. I'll see if I can narrow it down a bit.

Can we go with authors instead? No? Dammit.

Okay. Four. I narrowed it down to Four. This was harder than I though it would be. Also - you're all getting picture spammed because I worked my brain off for this short list.

Photobucket
Trickster's Choice by Tamora Pierce. Because Aly has more balls and sass than anyone I know. (Note - All of Tamora Pierce's books would be up here, but I wasn't allowed to pick authors.)

Photobucket
Good Omens by Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. Because the fusion of both authors awesomeness created something epic! And Crowley makes me grin like a lunatic.

Photobucket
Lord of the Rings Trilogy by Tolkien. Do I really need to explain this one? I read it when I was eleven and then dove, head first, into the fantasy genre of books. This trilogy set the example.

Photobucket
The Pillars of the Earth by Ken Follet. Because normally I don't enjoy fiction, but this was absolutely amazing. It was like one thousand and seventy six pages of beautifully written, flowing prose.

Can I make a list of honourable mentions? No? Dammit. >o<

Day 03 - My favourite television program

This was so hard. And I mean really REALLY hard. I like too many TV shows, it's not even funny but I managed to bring it down to a tie.

Photobucket
Criminal Minds makes my heart glee and float. Garcia needs to marry me.

Photobucket
Fringe is fantastic at keeping me guessing. Olivia Dunham is my hero (so is Walter ♥).

I like many more but I had to narrow it down. I would just like to state that simply picking these two took me over an hour. Pathetic? Absolutely! =D

Day 02 - My favourite movie

Action, romance, adventure, and comedy all wrapped into one movie. I couldn't ask for more.

Day 01 - My favourite song

MemeCollapse )

Stolen from [profile] sohalia because I think it's a great idea, and it'll at least give me a reason to post everyday for a while.

I enjoy a lot of music so picking just one favourite song was tricky. I picked this one because it's one that I will never get sick of and can listen to on never ending repeat without getting annoyed. I still remember the first time I heard this song. I was five, we had just moved into our new house, and my dad had finally gotten the record player set up. It was a brilliant afternoon.

PS -

This one was right on Crimson and Clovers ass, which should be no surprise to anyone really.
